I did the secret shopper thing before and was completely disappointed. I was offered to be paid $5 for a job that required about a half-hour of confusing paperwork. I stopped after that one job becacuse none of the other shopping jobs looked any more promising.
It seems the signing up is free, but to apply for a job you have to pay for the Gold membership.
